A belated Merry Christmas!

I hope that everyone had a wonderful Christmas! I enjoyed the holiday and what time I got to spend with my family, even though I had to work most of the day.

I had intended to post more coming up to the holiday. However, it has been very busy at home and thus I did not get all that much accomplished online.

Heck, I did not even finish my gift wrapping until the night before.

Happy Holidays!

Missing Comments

One of the nice things abut having a Blogger ID is that I can leave comments on other blogs.

Well, I could do it before but this makes it much easier.

However, I've noticed a disturbing trend.  Many of my posts are not showing up.  I'm not too sure why.

What do you do when your post does not show up?  Re-post it would be the most obvious, but often I don't realize that it's not posted until several days after the fact.

Gareb Shamus

I read a lot of web comics.  One in particular is "Gutters" which is written by Ryan Sohmer.  Recently they did a comic on how Gareb Shamus, affiliated with Wizard World, has been able to "destroy" every thing that he's dealt with.  Kind of like the revers Midas Touch.

Now "Gutters" uses a rotating pool of artist talent.  Apparently, Gareb Shamus threatened the artist who drew the original comic at their full time job, and said artist requested that the strip be taken down.

You can see the replacement strip here.

Parody is parody.  Get a thicker skin.

And I agree with Sohmer.  Don't threaten a part time employee at their place of full time employment.  Go to the publisher instead.

Checking in

Thus, I've been away a bit.  Mostly due to Thanksgiving.  More so due to my daughter.  Hard to type when she want's to be in my lap or when she just wants attention. Not that I'm upset with that.  Everything comes second to my daughter.  Including cleaning.  And raking the leaves.  And changing the belts on my wife's car...

OK, my daughter is very important to me!  And I'm getting behind in my chores at the house.  But the dishes are clean!

I've had plenty of ideas on what to write.  Just little opportunity.

Showing disrespect

The Grand Marshal's for today's NASCAR race were Sgt. Andrew Berry and Family, Michelle Obama, and Dr. Jill Biden.  I assume that I do not need to introduce Michelle or Jill as the wife of the President and Vice President, respectively.

Sadly, a portion of the crowd bood the two.  Not everyone, as I could hear a lot of cheering from the crowd on the video.

Neither of these two ran for their position in and of themselves.  Their husbands were elected and they merely hold an honorary title because of that.  Irregardless of your political beliefs you should still show respect to the spouse of an elected official.  This is not a dictatorship.  Also, we rarely vote for the spouse of the politician.

Getting behind.

Sometimes I feel like I'm running around like a chicken with it's head cut off.  I'm falling behind on so much personal housework and I can't get ahead.

Thus, what that means (other than my house is still a mess) is that I am getting behind on posting.  It is what it is.  I have plenty of interesting ideas...  but I rarely have time to write them down.  Even worse, when I sit down I rarely recall all the ideas I had for posts.

It is what it is.

Nap Time!

We are meeting some friends out to dinner tonight.  the Wife has laid down for a short nap before dinner.  The Baby is down for a nap before we go out to dinner.  The only one not taking a nap is yours truly because someone has to stay up and wake everyone up so that we are not late for dinner.

I really want a nap time.  =o(

The Joy of Snark

One blog I enjoy reading is "View From The Porch."   I've always felt that Tam has always had a gift of looking at the world in a skewed way.

I found great pleasure as she expressed her...  "regret" for the zoo animals in Ohio and her plans for an inexpensive safari.

Instapundit?

Hmm...  Instapundit seems to be down for the moment.

I may have to actually do work around the house instead of futzign around on the internet.

Firearms and wheelchairs

A firearm is a great equalizer.  It can put an 80 year old victim on defensive turf against an 18 year old criminal.  But on that note brandishing a firearm during an event of police interaction can and will justify the use of lethal force irregardless of your handicaps.

Babies

I am the proud father of an adorable six month old girl.  It is our first child.  It is also my parent's first grandchild.

Let the adoration commence!

I will state that my daughter may grow up to be somewhat spoiled.  I am OK with that.  I want her to have the best in everything and the most opportunities.  I want her to know that she can grow up to be what ever she wants to be.

Of course, there is all the economic and political doom and gloom about our futures.  Whatever.  Currently she is sitting in her swing giggling and bopping about.  I will make her future a better one.

Of course, her current future involves a diaper change and a bottle.

Adventures in Shaving!

As with most guys, I shave.  I have been shaving my face for over 20 years.  I started using an electric razor.  I then moved on to a fixed blade because I prefer the feel.

I've rarely changed my facial hair style.  For the longest time I shaved all of my facial hair, with the exception of trying out a mustache for about a year when I was in college.  It was a very unsuccessful experiment.

About 8 or 9 years ago I decided to grow a goatee.  It actually worked, even though it took a bit for it to grow in properly.  I have flecks of blonde and red hair in my goatee, and where the blonde bunched together it almost looked like a bald spot from a distance.  But I liked it and my wife liked it, and thus it was all good.

Recently, I decided to shave the goatee but keep the mustache.

The result...  is odd.  My chin is so cold!  Also, my daughter was in the habit of grabbing my chin hair and now she has nothing to grab on to.  But the worst thing is that the skin around my chin is so sensitive!  Shaving irritates the skin there.  Also, I can't seem to get all of the hairs properly.  I'll shave then I'll find plenty of spots that I missed.

I am sure that my chin will become "rough" and insensitive to shaving like the rest of my face eventually.  It will just take some time.

Down Among The Dead Men!

In honor of Talk Like a Pirate Day, here is a video of The Corsairs singing Down Among the Dead Men.  Pirates, and drunk to boot!

Yarr Matey!

Oh, I picked a wonderful day to start a blog!  How so?  Why, today is "Talk Like a Pirate Day!"

The First Post

Greetings!

Obviously, this is my first post.  The concept of this blog is to allow me to ramble on about what ever catches my fancy, and to work on my writing skills.  (I don't always come across as eloquent as I think I do, trust me.)

I'm making this post short and to the point, as I do have other matters requiring my attention at this time.
 Be back soon!
